Once again, CEBA members and trailblazers from across the clean energy sector gathered in San Jose, California, to tackle pivotal trends in clean energy and sustainability. Together, we explored bold strategies to advance the market, meet soaring demand, and address evolving market challenges head-on.
Did you know that clean, firm power like advanced nuclear and geothermal energy are emerging as strategic game-changers?
Speakers emphasize that clean and firm power solutions may become more and more important, and CEBA members such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are already stepping up, signing agreements to develop and implement these cutting-edge technologies. As demand for round-the-clock clean energy grows, these innovations will be essential for grid stability.
Navigating low carbon solutions in scope 3
Supply chain sustainability and supplier collaboration have been a hot topic during VERGE 24. It is not only the obligation for companies subject to CSRD but also the ongoing climate targets for net zero. With an internal supplier engagement program, multinationals are gaining the ability to facilitate different kinds of market instruments, such as on-site solar, PPAs, and green tariffs with utilities.
Diving the supply chain's shift to renewable energy and transitioning freight transport to electric power were some of the key focuses in the discussion on low-carbon scope three strategies. The shift from diesel to zero-emission trucks is an exciting trend, yet it faces significant hurdles, including existing driver delivery contracts, bulk diesel procurement, and the need for robust electric charging infrastructure.
The VERGE conference emphasized aligning clean energy strategies with evolving federal and state policies, embracing innovative financing models, and building a resilient, inclusive electricity grid that benefits all-especially those in underserved communities.
