Workshop on Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement

Updated: Aug 1, 2022

Since 2017 December, Mt. Stonegate committed to the promotion and assistance of signing a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a renewable energy power plant.

Greenpeace pointed out the situation in Taiwan two years ago. They found that although the liberalization of green power market should be opened, enterprises can purchase renewable energy from a renewable energy power plant, but they are not familiar with the PPA, the practical operation and power market mechanism, even if there is the willingness to buy green electricity has many obstacles.

The transformation of the global electricity market has sprouted since the beginning of global warming. Mt. Stonegate shared the global renewable energy machine tools, for example, PPA, RPS and FiT.

Before power has not been liberalized, corporations have procured electricity from utilities.

Recently, enterprises are increasingly looking to reduce their environmental footprint and their GHG emission. This is leading to consumers purchasing directly from renewable energy generators, especially their GHG emission from their scope 2.

These vocabulary are known as “Power Purchase Agreements” or PPAs. PPAs are long-term contracts to buy renewable energy in agreed volumes and at prices that meet the needs of the generator and the consumer. These agreements provide both parties not only with financially beneficial solutions, but also secure clean renewable energy supplies to the corporates and enable investment in additional renewable energy developments.
